New Hampshire SPCA

Founded in 1872, The New Hampshire SPCA is the oldest and largest animal welfare organization in the state. Every year the New Hampshire SPCA takes in and re-homes approximately 3,000 homeless, abused and abandoned animals. While our largest numbers of animals are cats and dogs, we also provide second chances for a loving home to many other species, including horses, goats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, rats and mice, large and small birds, chinchilla, turtles and a variety of other small animals.

We are a community resource, providing Humane Education to more than 7,500 children last year alone. Programming for children age 2 through 15 teaches children to be responsible for their own animals, and encourages them to get involved to help animals in the community and the world. Our training department provides opportunities for adopters and community members to enhance the bond with their animals through constructive and fun training classes.  We also provide low cost rabies clinics, spay/neuter clinics and workshops.

Finally, the New Hampshire SPCA was founded 140 years ago on the principle of fighting cruelty and mistreatment of animals.  Today, sadly, the need for cruelty investigations remains. Our cruelty investigations department responds to more than 800 cruelty complaints each year. By providing a safety net for animals around the state, we are saving animals lives every day.
